Breakfast with the Princess

As one gets older, the faster time seems to fly. And nothing helps to speed up time more than a child.

My little girl is growing up so quickly. She can hold full conversations with others now and can even tell original stories and sing songs she has created herself. One of the stories she told me went like this:

"There was a baby owl and she was lost in the forest. She flew up in the sky and she cried in the streets. She said, 'Mommy! Mommy!' She flew down inside Grandma's bag. And she cried for her mommy. "[insert crying sounds here]

Opening up my own law practice means I am my own boss. I can come and go as I please. And while I have given up a steady income, I have gained valuable time with my daughter. I can head for the office after having breakfast with her. I can be there to watch her dance around in her tutu and tiara while I eat my oatmeal.

It was with great fear that I began my journey towards opening up my own law practice. I still get sweaty palms and speeding heartbeat before I meet with a client for the first time. But I am willing to face those fears as long as I know that, at end of the day, I can look back and say I did it despite my fears. And I can keep working at this desk, burning the midnight oil if I must, knowing that, in the morning, I have the luxury of enjoying breakfast with my little princess.
