Makayla to me: "Where is the moon when the sun is up in the sky?"

Makayla, after watching a cartoon about animals: "Animals don't talk!"

Makayla to her dad: "I can't wait 'til my boobies are bigger than your boobies."

Makayla: "Mommy, when I was an itty bitty baby, I grew and grew in your belly, right?"
Me: "That's right."
Makayla: "Then you pushed me out?"
Me: "Yes."
Makayla: "Where did you push me out?"

Makayla: "I have daddy's ring." (Points to her father's wedding band)
Makayla: "I can't lose it because then Bobby won't be my daddy anymore. He'll just be some guy."

Unknowing, Unknowable
At once suspended in time and space
Unaware
Unnamed
Indistinct
But human all the same
Forever unknowable
Dreams that will never be realized
Hopes crushed, light briefly extinguished
Only the All-knowing knows you now
And perhaps, one day, so will I.
